Neuro-psychological Testing
Linus Health Platform
In our Direct Neurology clinic we are using the Linus Health platform to assess our patients cognitive function. This platform is part of our Brain Health Program that is included in our Direct Neurology Membership. Neuropsychological testing with the Linus Health platform represents a shift from traditional paper-and-pencil methods to a digital, AI-enhanced "process-based" approach.
While most traditional tests (like the MMSE or MoCA) focus on the final score, Linus Health incorporates the Boston Process Approach (BPA). BPA is a neuropsychological assessment method that focuses on how a person completes cognitive tasks, analyzing their behavior, strategies, and errors, and not just the final score. This allows for a deeper insights into brain function and dysfunction. The platform isn't just one test; it’s a suite of digital tools designed for speed and sensitivity and it can be used longitudinally to track cognitive function over time.
Benefits of using Linus Health Platform:
Early Detection: It is significantly more sensitive than paper tests, often detecting Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) that a human observer might miss.
Efficiency: A full "Core Evaluation" takes about 8–10 minutes, compared to traditional neuropsychological batteries that can take hours.
Objectivity: By automating the scoring, it removes "rater bias," where different doctors might score the same paper test differently.
Actionable Reports: The platform generates a Brain Health Action Plan, giving patients specific lifestyle recommendations (e.g., "increase physical activity" or "socialize more") based on their unique risk profile.
Parts of the brain measured by the platform:
Executive Function & Planning - primarily tests the Frontal Lobes
Memory (Visual & Verbal) - involves the Hippocampus and Temporal Lobes
Visuospatial Skill - maps to the Parietal Lobes, which handle spatial orientation
Motor Control & Processing Speed - assesses the Basal Ganglia and Cerebellum, areas responsible for fine motor coordination. Slower, strokes can be a biomarker for Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders
While traditional paper tests only give a total score (e.g., 26/30), Linus Health gives a "Cognitive Footprint" providing a detailed report not only on the right and wrong answered but also on the way you executed the test. All this taken together helps Dr Sadikovic develop a diagnosis and treatment plan individualized for each patient.
If you or someone you know is having trouble with memory or daily activities, reach out to us. Early diagnosis and support can make a big difference.
